Don't let the kids run on autopilot, Shake them up!

Teaching is a two way learning process. As a teacher and an academician, I have realized that I observe and learn every single moment from all my students in some way or the other. It's amazing to see how students reflect on their own learning progress.

Yesterday, one of my student said, "Teacher Jyotsna, Do you know what? I have noticed something when I am studying something. I continuously work for 5 minutes without any interruption and then I go into an auto-pilot mode and do you know what happens after that? My hand continues writing while my brain starts to day- dream". What should I do?

Wow! Now that's a fantastic reflection by a fifth grader. Must say..Really Impressive!
It happens to the best of us.We do have a tendency to shift into default mode. With our lives so busy there is barely a moment of spontaneity or real connection.

As a teacher and a curriculum designer we have to factor these pointers too. Happy that we have so much to learn everyday !!

Feeling good about what I am doing in my real life !! Trying to make a difference and neck deep into 21st century learning processes. Kudos!!
